The product of a large family of architects, engineers and musicians, Colin Nourie found early inspiration for a design career in the solar aircrafts of Paul MacCready, large-scale artwork of Alexander Calder and the design essentialism of Dieter Rams's work. An Ohio native, Nourie earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from Ohio State University, then spent his early career in consumer-product design, personal-care packaging and eventually furniture design. His own design-and-strategy firm, triplefive design, was started in 2002. In the intervening years, Nourie has designed several furniture systems for major commercial-furniture manufacturers, as well as consumer products for companies such as Staples, Procter & Gamble, Bloomberg and Abercrombie & Fitch. Many of his designs have earned recognition from GOOD Design, Best of NeoCon and the IDSA's IDEA Awards. Today, Nourie continues to work with an international clientele from his studio in Cincinnati.
