Geiger Introduces Loophole Occasional Tables at NeoCon 2011
May 18, 2011
Geiger International is introducing Loophole occasional tables, a collection of coffee tables and side tables for commercial and residential interiors. With smoothly intersecting planes forming the solid-wood base, Loophole adds a sculptural, organic shape to Geiger's occasional table offering. The table series will make its debut at the Geiger Chicago Merchandise Mart showroom at NeoCon, June 13-15.
Loophole boasts a unique base that can be flipped in either direction (with its wide end on the floor or under the glass top). "When working on Loophole, I wanted to design a simple shape that does more than one thing," says designer Jay Chapman. "With the small end on the floor, Loophole has a more commercial feel, with an easier approach. Turned over, with the large end on the floor, it takes on a residential character."
The Loophole table base's intersecting "loops" appear to form one continuous shape, but the optical illusion is courtesy of Geiger's state-of-the-art wood-carving capabilities. Upon closer inspection, Loophole is a celebration of precisely fitted mitered corners and thoughtfully designed joins at every seam. The table's glass top reveals both the smoothly arcing inner curves and the straight-line outer taper of the base. The wood base is available in solid ash, including natural and ebonized finishes, or solid walnut, in eight finish colors. The glass tops are 1/2" thick clear, low-iron glass.
Loophole tables, like all Geiger furniture, are manufactured at facilities that are powered entirely by green electrical energy. Energy used is harnessed from resources such as sunlight, wind or water flow and placed into the electrical grid, making the facilities carbon neutral in the use of electrical energy. Loophole also carries Geiger's 12-year warranty.
