Jay Chapman

Jay Chapman pursued an affinity for design while still in high school, where he studied architecture and drafting. In college, he discovered a passion for furniture design. He explains, “It was then that I connected the ideas that you can be creative with a utilitarian craft like woodworking. I wanted to bring the finesse of handcrafting to furniture design.”

Chapman’s design credits include Loophole Tables. Intersecting “loops” form the table’s base—reading as one seamless form and creating an illusion with Geiger’s innovative wood-carving technology. Examined closer, the base reveals precisely fitted mitered corners and thoughtfully designed joins at every seam.

Chapman earned a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Arkansas, followed by a Master of Fine Arts in furniture design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. His work has been included in exhibitions at ICFF in New York City and Salone Satellite in Milan.
