Leeway Chair
by Keiji Takeuchi
A clever guest chair design that supports seated movement
Leeway Chair
Leeway was designer Keiji Takeuchi's first furniture design for a US-based company. He drew upon our strength in woodcraft to create a crescent-shaped, cantilevered backrest. This opens up the chair to better accommodate the side-to-side movements people make while socializing or collaborating.

Learn MoreKeiji Takeuchi wanted to free people from the constraints of conventional guest chairs. “My work was not done until people were happy to sit,” he says. “If people have any hesitation choosing my chair...that means something is missing.”

Crescent-shaped backrest
The crescent-shaped backrest curves forward enough to allow the sitter to rest their elbows.

Cantilevered design
Leeway's cantilevered design means the backrest only connects to the frame at two points, which opens up the design along the sides.

Material options
Leeway comes in all-wood, or with metal frames and a choice of wood or polyurethane seats and backrests. Wood seats can also be upholstered.
