Timothy deFiebre graduated from Denison University with a BFA in Theater and Cinema. While working at the Julliard School after college, he became interested in furniture design, where he built his first pieces. He later studied technical design and production at the Yale School of Drama and attended the Parsons School of Design. After working as a design assistant and model maker for legendary designer Ward Bennett, deFiebre became Director of Design at Brickel Associates. He later became Vice President of Design at Geiger, where he updated his Brickel work as well as created new chair designs. In 1998, he founded Timothy deFiebre Designs in New York City. His award-winning designs are a part of the permanent collection of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and the Chicago Athenaeum.
