Timothy deFiebre

Timothy deFiebre graduated from Denison University with a bachelor of fine arts in theater and cinema. While working at the Julliard School after college, he became interested in furniture design, later studying technical design and production at the Yale School of Drama and attending Parsons School of Design.

After working as a design assistant and model maker for legendary designer Ward Bennett, deFiebre became Director of Design at Brickel Associates. When Geiger acquired Brickel—and their sizeable catalog of classic Ward Bennett furniture designs—he became our Vice President of Design. In that role, deFiebre oversaw the reintroduction of numerous Ward Bennett designs. He also contributed a number of new designs to the Geiger catalog, notably the deFiebre Seating System.

“Products may go in and out of favor, depending on the foibles of fashion, but good design is always good.”

- Timothy deFiebre

The deFiebre System brings together seating that, while not originally conceived as a collection, builds on the best features of each design, with an emphasis on comfort. Interchangeable backrests and armrests offer architects and designers an extensive range of options within a shared aesthetic.

In 1998, deFiebre founded Timothy deFiebre Designs in New York. His work is in the permanent collections of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, and the Chicago Athenaeum.
