Colin Nourie

Coming from a family of architects, engineers, and musicians, Colin Nourie found early inspiration for a design career in the artwork of Alexander Calder and the design essentialism of Dieter Rams. An Ohio native, Nourie earned a bachelor of science in industrial design from Ohio State University, then spent his early career in product design before moving on to furniture.

Based in Cincinnati, Nourie founded Collective Ten, where he is the creative leader, working on design and strategy with an international clientele. Over the years, he has designed several furniture systems for major commercial furniture manufacturers, as well as consumer products for companies including Procter & Gamble, Bloomberg, and Abercrombie & Fitch.

“I strive for designs where, as in nature, a thing has shed whatever’s unnecessary and evolved to the point of visual and functional efficiency.”

- Colin Nourie

Nourie’s designs for Geiger include Catalyst, a furniture-based system that anticipates the needs of workers in contemporary settings with its intuitive, unobtrusive access to storage, lighting, power, and technology. Catalyst upholds the comfort and material standards of executive offices for workers at all levels in collaborative settings.

Many of Nourie’s designs have earned recognition from GOOD Design, Best of NeoCon, and the IDSA’s IDEA Awards.
